The Treatment Process
Knowing what happens at each stage — before you fly, at the hospital, and when paying — removes most of the stress of medical travel. Here's the full journey.
The typical journey
Prepare
Choose a hospital, request a written quote, book your appointment, sort your visa and travel documents.
Arrive
Bring your passport and appointment confirmation. Register at the international department or cashier.
Treat
Consult, test, and treat. Most tests complete within hours; major procedures are scheduled and explained in advance.
Pay & Follow up
Settle the bill, collect medications, and request English discharge summaries and invoices for reimbursement.
Language help. International departments provide English-speaking staff. If you're outside an international department, bring a translator or use a translation app — see our translation guide.
