How to read a hospital listing
Each hospital card on this site shows the department's service languages, specialty strengths, and booking methods. Two kinds of facilities dominate international care:
- International departments of top public hospitals — world-class specialists at public prices, with dedicated English-speaking clinics. Examples: Peking Union Medical College Hospital and Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center.
- Private international hospitals — Western-style service, multi-language staff, direct billing with international insurers, and higher fees. Examples: Jiahui and United Family.
Verify before you go. Hospital phone numbers, addresses and service hours change. Always confirm details on the hospital's official website or by phone before travelling.
Which city should you choose?
Beijing leads in complex tertiary care (oncology, cardiac surgery, rare disease) and has the widest English booking coverage. Shanghai has the most international private hospitals and multilingual staff. Guangzhou is a strong oncology hub with a dedicated international medical tourism service. See the cost guide to compare prices across cities.
